The effects of Peer Pressure

Peer pressure has been around as long as times has been around. I remember back in the 60s when I went to school peer pressure was just as bad then as it is now. The only difference is we didn't get hazed. Back in my day the main peer pressure was to smoke. And I fell victim to the peer pressure. I don't smoke today I have been smoke-free for about four years. But the effects of that peer pressure causing me to be a smoker. I have chronic emphysema, COPD and a high disposition to lung cancer. I have to use an inhaler at all times. Today kids are pressured into smoking having sex and doing all kinds of things they wouldn't normally do on their own. And they don't realize that this pressure now can have long term effects. I've discussed the smoking. The kids that have sex today run a higher risk of teenage pregnancy, STDs, HIV, hepatitis and a whole host of things  they just don't know. Nowadays I believe peer pressure is a lot worse than when my in my day. I see videos on the Internet of kids being beaten up because they don't go along with the group. I think it's just horrible. I know that every kid from today to my generation to my grandmother's generation only wants to just be popular. But popularity comes with a price. And you think you're ready to pay that price. Because when you're young you think you have the world and that nothing battle ever happened to you. But the effects of peer pressure are more than just the physical effects psychological it's emotional it's mental. Peer pressure causes kids to do all kinds of things they would they wouldn't do just normally and that peer pressure will be around for another as long as their kids some pressure. It's a sad world we live and where in order to fit in you have to be somebody or not do things you don't want to do. I would advise kids to stay away from peer pressure; but that's like asking kids stop breathing or stop going to school. Because no matter what no matter what where you live what social or economical status you have. There will still be bullies there will still be peer pressure and you'll still have to choose. And the long-term affects are so astronomical that you just can't  imagine as a child. Or even an adult.

Refutation Blog 1

Hello my name is Kim Hollis. And I am supposed to be writing this blog on why I disagree with a story called pregnant and no civil rights. Unfortunately this like other stories I can't disagree with because I totally agree with what is being said. So instead of disagreeing with him I'm going to go over some of the key points of what he disagreed with and what I agree with. Which is probably going to be completely wrong but this is what I have for you. First off my statement said I believe that it is a woman's right to make her own decision about her body.
I am pro-life so I myself do not believe in abortion but I believe in a woman's right to have one. And I don't believe that a court a judge or any civil order can change that. I don't believe the courts have right to interfere with a woman's right on her own body. There are several states that have several laws that are completely ludicrous. Now I understand that if a woman is drinking or doing drugs or putting her baby's life at risk she should be charged whether it be a fetus or toddler. The charge should be the same.
I believe that life starts at conception. The examples I will give in a few states laws are examples that the writer of this paper gave. But unfortunately they didn't give any background so I don't know if or why these arrests were made or these charges were filed. In one case an Ohio woman falls down a flight of stairs and is arrested for attempting fetal homicide. Now if she was drunk that could be considered fetal homicide if she was finding a quick way to have an abortion that would be fetal homicide. If she just fell down a flight of stairs I don't believe it should be considered fetal homicide
. Now in the story of the Ohio woman who gives birth to twins and one of them is stillborn she's arrested for fetal homicide. Now if you did something to harm the other twin then yes. In another case a woman is arrested for having a miscarriage or having a stillborn baby and it's called a miscarriage of justice now that I agree with and less she did something to cause the baby to be miscarried or stillborn. But I agree with this statement politicians making decisions over our bodies is wrong and somebody ought to put a stop to it. So in conclusion I believe that the courts have no place in what I consider to be an act of God but if it's an act of the person then I completely agree that the court should step in.
